i was sort of all over the place in september but made it to some cool new-to-me places.
restaurants + coffee shops.

when jeremy was in town he wanted thai food, so we decided to check out lang larb chiang mai. we had a grand time, and my gaeng hung lay was very delicious. they have an extensive menu, so i will be back again to try something new.
my favorite date. new york, new york. september 2022. i ate every bite. new york, new york. september 2022.
maggie and i are treating ourselves to occasional fancy date nights, and for our first one we went to scarpetta. it’s very swanky and trendy, and we had a blast pretending to be classy. our server was great, and we had a ton of fun chatting with him [maggie fluently in italian and me using my twelve words that i know]. also our drinks and food and dessert were all scrumptious, and we got complimentary limoncellos to close out the night. it was such fun, and i am excited for this new tradition of ours. pro tips: make a reservation / the short rib and bone marrow agnolotti was fantastic

when pat turns was in town i made him take me to dinner at patiala because it had long been on my list of places to try, and it was fantastic. we shared samosas, chicken 65, patiala chicken curry, goat biryani, garlic naan, and gulab jamun, and all of it was amazing. also i made friends with the uncle who works there so i need to go back again soon to make sure he remembers me. adding this one to my list for next time my parents are in town because my father will love it.

last week michael and i picked up food from wah fung and ate in the nearby park while catching up on life and work and all the rest. he got the roast duck and i had their famous roast pig; both were good but mine was definitely the winner. pro tips: takeout only / we think it’s cash only / it’s apparently gotten tik-tok famous recently so be prepared for a line outside

following wah fung we walked over to joey bats to get pasteis for dessert. we’ve been there before but i forgot to take a picture that time so i’m including it this time. i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: friends who plan for my dessert stomach are my favorite friends.
bars.
i have been intending to go to the ditty for months and finally made it there a few weeks ago. it’s a really nice space and the bartender makes a great old fashioned, so i will for sure be back. also i just found out they have movie tuesdays so i’m adding that to my list.
sights.

loved my time walking around bushwick and learning about the history of street art in new york city.

gooo cyclones! brooklyn, new york. september 2022. love friends who are good sports. brooklyn, new york. september 2022.
the friday night of labor day weekend i dragged maggie, matt, and michael down to coney island for a brooklyn cyclones game. it was the final weekend of their season, and we lucked out with lovely weather so it was good fun. we made friends with a group of older men sitting in front of us [one of them told us i’m a “keeper], we gorged ourselves on hot dogs [a vegan one for maggie], and we had a great time.

i already wrote posts about my night at the us open quarterfinals, my adventures at momo crawl, and the ben platt concert at madison square garden but wanted to include them here as well.
