a few weeks ago i had the opportunity to go to one of the us open quarterfinal nights with sarita and chris, and it was awesome. i have gone to professional tennis matches before but my last one was in 2008 and this was my first time going to one of the grand slams, and it was a totally different atmosphere.

there was such a great energy both outside and inside arthur ashe stadium, and apart from a lot of confusion over the seating sections it was a great night. sarita and chris brought sandwiches from luino’s which were fantastic, and we had a great time cheering on the players and people watching.

the men’s match went to a fifth set, and since a lot of people had left early we moved down to better seats to catch the end. it was past 1am by the time we left and it was worth every minute of missed sleep.

next year i’m hopeful i will be in town for the first weekend of the tournament so i can watch some of the early round matches and just spend an entire day in and around the grounds. for now i will be grateful to sarita and chris for inviting me along for the adventure.
xx
