veen on the road: aunty veen reporting for duty.

at the end of march lindsay called and asked if i was free toward the end of april to go to nashville — steve was due to be out of town, and she was hoping i could help with the kids while he was gone. i had been wanting to find a time to visit anyway, so i very enthusiastically said yes.

steve wound up cancelling his trip so i didn’t have to do as much of the ferrying as originally planned and instead got to spend a lovely week with some of my favorite humans and one of my favorite dogs. the 8-year-old had a softball game one afternoon, i successfully took all three kids to the dentist on my own, and we got everyone situated for book character day at school. in between i took biscuit for a few walks, applied to a lot of jobs, and spent a few afternoons reading at jackalope. i also got to see lindsay’s parents, had lunch with catherine one day, and to cap off the week steve took me to my first nhl game, which was a lot of fun even though i sadly think i’m bad luck for the preds.

after years of one- and two-night visits it was so nice to have a full week in town, to be able to spend time with each kid on their own and to have proper time to catch up with both lindsay and steve throughout the week. we’ve long joked about my moving in with them and being the third parent, and it was fun to slot into that role for a week. i wasn’t great at taking photos, but below are some highlights from the week.

and aunty veen is still available for hire, if you need her.

xx
