saturday was cooper-young fest which is the best day to live in the neighborhood and one of my favorite days as a memphian. thousands of people turn out to walk cooper, check out the booths selling jewelry and artwork and snacks and clothing and everything else, and listen to music at different stages along the way.
alex and i went over around 11 and lasted about an hour before succumbing to the heat. as much as i love the festival, being outside at noon in 96-degree heat with 2,000+ other people isn’t my idea of a good time, so once we made a loop and said hi to the people we wanted to say hi to, we came back home for a quick break and then walked over to katie russo’s for her annual backyard throwdown.
after catching up with all the people and heading back to our respective homes to cool off and change, we met back up at the levitt shell for the community foundation’s get-together, this time with jen and ryan in tow. we ate a lot, roasted s’mores, enjoyed the music, and left with a ton of swag before stopping by mollie fontaine’s for a drink.
saturday was one of those great days where i got to hang out with some of my favorite people, enjoy some of the best that memphis has to offer, and remember why i love this city.
