for months i have been alluding to vague travel plans i had in the making, but today is the day i share my whereabouts for the next month!
23 april to 3 may: georgetown, malacca, and kuala lumpur / malaysia
i have been dreaming of visiting georgetown [in penang] for well over a year, and i figured it was finally time to get there and see it in person. known for its fantastic food and incredible street art, georgetown has grown in popularity in recent years, and i cannot wait to eat my way around the town and stroll through random streets looking for artwork both familiar and new. i have already booked myself onto a street food tour, and i am on the hunt for other fun adventures while i’m in town.
i will also be spending a few days in malacca with my father’s friend and his family. my father and kumar uncle have been friends for over 40 years, and although i have heard stories about him my entire life, i have never had the opportunity to meet him. when i emailed kumar uncle in late march to ask for some recommendations for malaysia, he very generously offered to host me at his home in malacca. so after my time in georgetown, i’ll be spending 2.5 days in malacca and about 24 hours in kuala lumpur before continuing on with my journey.
3 may to 11 may: phnom penh and siem reap / cambodia
when i touch down in cambodia, i’ll be heading to phnom penh for about 2.5 days on my own. the only specific things i want to see are the genocide museum and the killing fields, both of which i know will be brutal to see but are also incredibly important. other than that, i’ll be wandering and eating.
and then, the highlight of my trip — a reunion with alex in siem reap! he is currently in thailand and then will spend a little time in vietnam before we meet up in siem reap. we’ll be visiting the temples of angkor wat and generally catching up and eating a lot and swimming to escape the heat.

12 may to 16 may: bombay / india
i knew i wanted to make a quick visit to bombay to say a final round of goodbyes to everyone there and to chill with priyanka and deboo for a few extra days. as luck would have it, i am returning from se asia 10 days before they leave for various travels, so it works out for me to go directly to bombay before returning to bangalore. i am looking forward to janata and toto’s visits, catching up with everyone i can, riding along the sea link, and travelling on the local trains.

dates tbd: delhi and possibly mussourie / india
i want to make a quick trip to delhi to spend a few days with nithya, and she floated the idea of escaping the heat with a weekend jaunt to the mountains. we are looking at a visit to mussourie, but dates and specifics are yet to be finalized. wherever we end up will be a great time, and i am very much looking forward to it.
where is the next month taking you? and do you have any recommendations for the places i’m going? i’d love to hear them!
xx
