the year in books: 2015.

i managed to read twenty-seven books for pleasure this year, including the first five booker award winners of my lifetime. my goal at the beginning of the year was to read fifteen books for fun, and i am pretty proud that i passed that halfway through the year.

i have done individual write-ups on each book throughout the year, but i thought i would also do a quick overview of my favourites from the year.

my top reads of 2015:

all the light we cannot see [number one read of 2015, hands down]; the silver star; to kill a mockingbird; zeitoun; number the stars; i was told there’d be cake; the little prince; the diary of a young girl; i know why the caged bird sings; moon tiger

open your eyes and see what you can with them before they close forever.

the booker winners:

life & times of michael k; hotel du lac; the bone people; the old devils; moon tiger

the time-pass / quick reads:

the girl on the train; the girl you left behind; the dante club; the witness; the search; how not to travel the world [about halfway through at the moment]

the audiobooks:

tuesdays with morrie; still foolin’ ’em

love wins. love always wins.

the ones you can skip:

the seventh child; the unimaginable; chai, chai.

the ones i am looking forward to in 2016:

the tipping point; sister of my heart; i am malala; born to run; a visit from the goon squad; the great railway bazaar; the argumentative indian; dubliners; the year of magical thinking; gather together in my name; everything i never told you.

read all of my 2015 book reviews.

what were your favourite books this year? which ones should i add to my list?

xx

Thank you so much, Sabs! I do indeed do some of the challenges on Goodreads. I surpassed my goal for 2015, and this year I’m going to try to do a few more! Have you read anything good lately? I’m starting Everything I Never Told You tomorrow, and I can’t wait! xx
