st. jude marathon weekend, the 2023 edition.

as it is every year, st. jude marathon weekend is my favorite weekend of the year. it’s thousands of people converging on memphis to walk or run for a cause. it’s meeting and hearing from st. jude patients and families to remember the larger purpose of the event. it’s cheering for a 17-year-old cancer survivor running his first full marathon in honor of the place that saved his life. it’s friends coming together from multiple states to reunite and welcome new members. it’s my 80-year-old mother showing up and walking the 5k and soaking up the atmosphere. it’s st. jude memphis marathon weekend, and it’s always unforgettable.
