i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again: st jude memphis marathon weekend is my favorite weekend to be a memphian. it is always so incredible to see so many people from all over the world come together to support the work of st jude and to run the streets of memphis.

2019 was my sixth year running as a hero and my fifth time running in memphis; in 2014 i ran my 5k in calcutta on the eve of priyanka and deboo’s wedding but still fundraised and cheered my friends on from afar.

in total, i have raised over $7,000 as a st jude hero, all thanks to my awesome family and friends from across the globe who continue to support me in this endeavor. i always get so excited when i get a donation notification, because i know that money is going directly to ensuring st jude can continue their lifesaving work all while never charging families for the care of their children. my father’s work at st jude inspired many of his business practices in helena, and it means so much to me to be able to give back to this place that quite literally brought my family to this country.

this year i completed the 5k, and i also got to spend time with jane and with chrystal, in town from baltimore and cleveland respectively. the fall is the busiest time of year for both of them, so it was great to get some face time with them both and i love that they make it a priority to be back for this weekend every year.

it was great to share the streets with so many others who are passionate about st jude’s work, and it was fun to cheer on my friends who were running longer distances. this is such a special weekend, year after year, and this year was no different.
until december 2020, st jude.
xx
