strictly speaking we didn’t need to go to goa, but it’s such a great way to break up the journey from bangalore to bombay and i knew it would be nice to have a few chill days between the two busy cities.
and of course it was exactly what we needed. we were only able to manage 2.5 days but they were absolutely perfect. the days stretched on forever, and we swam and ate and took naps on the beach and just generally enjoyed having nothing to do and nowhere to be.
it was also fun to return to palolem and see some of the same servers from last year — one of the guys at big fish remembered us, which was great because we had three meals there and it was lovely to be treated like regulars, and another guy at ciaran’s laughed when i ordered the goan sausage naan and said “oh yes that’s your favorite, i remember”. i’m sure i don’t have you tell you how much we loved it. and we had a lovely final night dinner at new-to-us the nest which will be added to our future rotation.
we also got to stay again in an oceanview cottage at pacific sunset view which we once again loved. the cottage is great and it’s so lovely to sit on that porch and watch as the beach wakes up in the morning or when the sun goes down and evening settles. on this visit we talked about how we still believe that it’s the best spot to stay in palolem for the views alone, and whenever i’m back i’ll stay there once again.
the point of goa was to relax and recharge, and by the time we left we were fully ready for the chaos of bombay.
xx
