veen on the road: a little jaunt to philly.

i recently returned from my first visit to philadelphia and had a great time. caitlin and i went through so many options of where we wanted to go and eventually landed on philly — we were able to get a very discounted airbnb in center city and cheap train tickets and were on our way.

our friend amy, who moved to philly in june, happened to be free the two full days we were in town, so it worked perfectly for her and caitlin to wander while i worked and then for me to join them in the late afternoon. we went with very little on our agenda and wound up having a great time.

we had a delicious breakfast one morning, found a lovely wine bar, and caught a rooftop sunset. we saw the liberty bell, pretended to be rocky, and walked to the top of the steps at the art museum. we had lunch at reading terminal market, we did a pretty good job figuring out the buses, and we got to explore a bit of amy’s neighborhood as well.

i would like to go back when i don’t have work and can spend a full day or two getting to some of the corners i didn’t make it to this time, but overall i think it’s a lovely city and am so glad we were able to make that visit happen.

xx
