this weekend i am:
enjoying a quasi three-day weekend! the current plan is to catch up with some people over breakfasts and drinks, make some headway in my new book, write a few postcards, watch this month’s documentary, and hit up the first kitsch mandi of the year on sunday afternoon. it sounds like a lot, but it’s all things i’m looking forward to!

interesting things from around the interwebs:
paul kalanithi’s book when breath becomes air released this week. it’s already on my amazon wish list for when i lift my book-buying ban. here is an excerpt about paul’s last day as a resident.
have you ever heard the lunar theory about bill clinton? it’s quite interesting.
there is a railway station in rural japan that has stayed open for three years so that one girl can get to and from school every day.
what is your disney personality? i am 40% pocahontas and 60% merida, which sounds pretty accurate to me, but i find it weird that the results are only females. there are a lot of guys in those disney movies as well.
daniel radcliffe’s screen test for harry potter is the best thing.
how technology has changed the way our generation approaches charitable giving.
i know this image of tina and amy running for president is a joke, but does it really have to be? can’t we make this a real thing?
the history of pasquale’s tamales, one of the best things to come out of helena.
jackie fuchs’ piece about life after the revelation of her sexual assault is really great. and in case you missed it, here is the original piece by jason cherkis about the incident. i thought it was one of the best highline pieces of 2015.
emma watson has created a book club on goodreads, so obviously i joined.
the funniest florida man headlines of 2015. these are hilarious.
pinkathon bangalore is happening on 31 january. register now for the 3k, 5k, or 10k to get a little exercise and raise some money for breast cancer research. i’ll be there!
adele singing car karaoke with james corden will make your day.

in case you missed it:
my goals for 2016. how many do you think i’ll accomplish this year?
