in 2014 i did a series called of52 where each week i highlighted something special that had happened that week. i had actually forgotten about it until i was looking at my old blog for something else and then fell into a bit of a rabbit hole re-reading many of the posts. as i was reading i was struck with how many small things i could remember from that year because i had taken the time to note them down.
i don’t know if i will be able to keep up with this every week for an entire calendar year, but i would really like to try. i want to be better about remembering the little things that make my days and weeks good, and i figure if i try it out on here it adds a fraction of accountability.
and on to this week’s story:
on saturday i met my friend curtis for brunch at slider inn. we check in on each other pretty regularly but hadn’t had a chance to really sit down and catch up in a while, so we took advantage of schedule-free weekends [a small miracle in itself] and took ourselves out to eat.
slider on saturday mornings is nice and chill, and they have $4 deals on bloody marys, so we enjoyed a few adult beverages and a lot of food while we caught each other up on the happenings of the last few months. we chatted about work and relationships, and we entertained our server with ridiculous anecdotes.
it was a beautiful day, so after we finished eating and drinking we took off on a wander through the idlewild and central gardens neighborhoods. we idly commented on houses we passed as we walked off our food, and we explored streets neither of us had been down before.
it was so nice to have some proper quality time together, to bounce some things off one another, and to enjoy the sunshine. i look forward to more of these in the year to come.
other highlights included: a low-key new year celebration at chris and jessi’s; another celebration at nate and shelby’s; a grizz game adventure with my mini-me sarah; and some good quality family time.
i kind of decided last-minute to start this series up again, but hopefully i will have better photographic evidence of these happenings in the weeks and months to come.
