happy thanksgiving, everyone!
thanksgiving is one of my favourite days of the year and the start of my favourite time of year. when i’m in the states my family and i do nothing but eat and watch football the entire day, and it’s kind of magical. and on the day after thanksgiving i haul all the christmas decorations out of the attic and get them set up throughout the house. it’s such a fun weekend and one of the times of year i miss home the most.
every year i try to write about what i have been most thankful for in the last twelve months. it’s my opportunity to sit down and reflect and document all the good things in my life. it’s so easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day, to get stressed with work and bangalore traffic, and to lose my patience when something is not going my way, so this is when i take a step back and remind myself that i’ve got a lot of great things happening.
this year, i am thankful for…
…family and friends who shower me with unconditional love and support. a steady job that allows me to work in education, in bangalore, and with people i respect. a home i enjoy coming back to every evening and that allows me the safety and freedom to live on my own.
…the opportunity to travel and to see more of india and the rest of the world. friends who indulge my whims and join me on my never-ending quest to eat my way around bangalore.
…my physical abilities [more so this year than ever before!] — being able to walk and run and get myself from place to place.
…food, water, shelter, and clothing. the big four that remain the same, year after year.
even through the ups and downs this year has thrown my way, i know i am one of the lucky ones.
what are you thankful for this year?
xx
