june and july were busy months in the city, and i wanted to share some highlights from the summer!
queens night market adventures. after a 2022 visit to queens night market i missed it completely last year, so i was glad to make it back three times this summer. maggie, alexa, and i went in june; sarah and i went one weekend in july; and jesse, sarah, and i went also in july. it’s fun to try so many different kinds of foods, and it’s nice to spread out a blanket and enjoy the live music and people-watching. i’m hoping for another visit in the fall before they close for the season.
visits from sarah and jesse. sarah arrived on my birthday and stayed on for three weeks, living her best sunnyside life while maggie was in italy, and jesse came for a weekend visit also in july. it’s always great having sarah in town, and it was lovely having jesse here for her first visit since i moved.
beach day. i hadn’t been to rockaway beach since i moved and was determined to get in a beach day this year, so one sunday alexa, sarah, rachel, and i packed up our sheets and snacks and drinks and made the journey. it was a long but very fun day, and i was glad to have some time by the ocean and a dip in the water. and getting there by ferry is just a delight.
brooklyn cyclones game. when jesse was planning her visit i suggested we go to a brooklyn cyclones game. i figured jesse would down for the adventure, and we got there early enough to meet sarah on the coney island boardwalk and wander a bit before meeting alexa and heading into the game. we had a table which was awesome, the cyclones won in extra innings, and there were fireworks! great night on all counts.
exploring new neighborhoods. while jesse was here we spent part of our saturday on arthur avenue in the bronx, and after she left on sunday sarah and i explored the ridgewood neighborhood of queens. it’s such a nice way to spend a weekend, and i loved seeing new parts of the city and exploring without an agenda. great reminder i need to do this more often.
considering how hot it’s been this summer i’m impressed with how much we did, but i think i’ll save the next adventures for once the weather gets better.
xx
